I want to edit my vbs files in MS script editor, but by default they open in
notepad. In XP I would go to file types in folder options and change it. but
in Vista all I can find is how to change the program that opens it. not what
edits it.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Check this key and default entry
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\VBSFile\Shell\Edit\Command

Must be a better way than editing the registry?

This is my first disappointment with Vista

In the scheme of things, doesn't "open" and "edit" amount to the same
thing. Both functions in XP were identical; they opened the file.

Not necessarily. For example, the default "Open" action for a .CMD or
..BAT file runs the batch script. The default "Edit" action for a .CMD
or .BAT opens the file in Notepad. Sure, both involve "opening" the
file, but the results are quite different. Same with HTML files, VBS
files, etc. Being able to control what application is used to edit a
file type is important to some people.

Not so. See above.
