How to change a users default directory (When opening a command prompt) ?

When I open a new command prompt the default directory is something like

D:\Documents and settings\myname>

How do I change this default directory (of cause NOT by "cd" :))
so that the command prompt jumps automatically there if I open a new instance of it?

Ill more than likely be proved wrong, but i dont believe you can set the
prompt to a default directory in XP's command prompt. It will always default
to the c:/docs and set/USER.

You can of course type cd .. to move up a directory
