Hello. I have WindowsXP installed on my home computer as well as my laptop.
Both computers are signed on under the same ID. When I hook up the network,
I can see both computers on each other's network. The problem is that when
I try to use the home computer to access the laptop, I get a window asking
me to sign-in as a guest, and to enter a password, which of course I don't
have. I don't get that message when going from the laptop to the home
computer, and can access it directly. Can anyone tell me what is going on,
and how can I resolve the problem? Thanks!

I would check this at first:

go to start-> control panel->network and internet connections->network
connection right click the icon related to the connection you are using for
connecting the two computers. A dialog will pop up. Click on the advanced
tab and check if the firewall is on! Is it? Unmark it and see what happens

1. Check your Guest settings under User Access and change
the password to null (empty) and try again.

2. If this doesn't work simply click Cancel if you are
asked for a password.

I've ran across this before and found option 1. above
fixed it.
