how to break a dual boot...

I have 2 hd (1 w/ Vista & 1 w/ XP) when the machine boots it ask for Windows
Vista OS or Early version of Windows to boot from.
The problem is , I need to take out the hd that have Vista, but when I try
to boot with the hd that have XP the machine see no hd in the bios and
doesn't boot. Do a miss something in relation with the dual boot????

If the BIOS does not detect the remaining hard drive then that
indicates a probable jumper setting issue with that drive.

If your remaining hard drive has the jumper set in the Slave position
then it probably needs to be reconfigured to the Master setting. If
the drive was already the master drive then it may be one of the
brands that use different jumper settings for "Stand alone master
drive" and for "Master drive with slave present".

And if you were using Cable Select for your drives then you probably
need to reconnect the remaining drive in the master (end of cable)
position.
