I am trying to block some sites using xp IE 6 but nothing seems to work.
Is third party software required. This is to stop children from going to
them dam sites.
Make sure you have the exact URL (address) copied beginning with http://
and then open IE (Internet Expllorer). Click > Tools > Internet
Options > Security > Restricted Sites > Sites > Add .... type in the
URL (
http://www.bad site example .com) and clkick Okay to save
settings.
Note this is not guarenteed but should do the trick. If the address is
clicked or pasted in and "Go" - there should be a little icon in IE
saying it is a restricted site and the page will most likely appear as
a blank white page display. Malicious content websites combined with
malware have entirely circumvented these security settings. If it is
one of these, malware may install as a drive by installation even
though the page does not display as a Restricted Site entry. This is
no guarentee. You need paid subsctription antispyware software with
real time active shileds to block that. See Webroot Spysweeper or
Trend Micro Antispyware (both have active shileds like a firewall
against infections).
