How to block audio ads? Another one startled me today.

I simply need the ability to block all audio ads. Popup blockers and
unchecking the IE options to "play sounds (or videos) in webpages" are
ineffective.

Today was the last straw when out of the blue, an unsolicited voice
exclaimed: "MILLIONS OF MEN HAVE HAD DIFFICULTY IN GETTING OR
MAINTAINING AN ERECTION..." as I scrambled to figure out its origin and
how to disable it.

My special thanks to the *ssholes at Pfizer for producing this garbage
and The New York Times for subjecting its readers to it. Am I the only
one to think that this increasingly common and obtrusive practice is
highly questionable or unethical?

Apparently uninstalling Flash would work but it'd be overkill so I'll
do it as a last resort. Why can't Flash (or IE) give users the option
to turn off unsolicited sounds by default? Such an audio blocker would
be a popular plug-in.
