How to Backup messages?

I'm trying to export all my messages from Outlook Express 6 using the
Export->Messages function. However I get an error:
"The export could not be performed. An error occurred while initializing MAPI"

Since this doesn't seem to work, how do I export messages or create a file
which I can back up?

That is the forum for Outlook Express 6 questions. Outlook Express is part
of Internet Explorer. Outlook (which sounds the same, but isn't) is part of
Microsoft Office. You'll get a more knowledgeable answer from the Outlook
Express folks. Good luck!
