Press Alt+F9 to toggle all the field codes at once. This has the same effect
as clearing the check box for "Field codes" on the View tab of Tools |
Options.

Thank you. That one's been driving the wife slightly crazy lately.

Hi Lane,

In addition to Suzanne's advice, if you want a field to update (eg a cross-reference or a SUM(ABOVE) field in a table) to reflect a
change in whatever it refers to, this can generally be achieved via Print Preview or, alternatively, selecting the field and
pressing F9.

Any solution for a locked form that does not involve printing? Right now the
user has to rightclick the field and select Update. I wish this could occur

Hi PumaMan,

If the non-updating field is referring toa formfield on the form, simply make sure the formfield's properties are set to 'calculate
on exit'.
