How to automatically enlarge a picture in PowerPoint presentation

I use PowerPoint for technical presentations where many graphic objects such
as schematics and plots need to be displayed. In some cases, it would be
useful to put many of them on a single page, but in reduced-size format. I am
looking for a simple means of associating an action to these such that when
the pointer moves over them an enlarged version of the object would be
automatically displayed. One solution is to associate a link to each object
so that an associated page with the enlarged version of the object would be
displayed, but I am more looking for a kind of animation on the currently
displayed page.

Hi

I would do this using triggers - only available if you have PowerPoint
2002/XP or above.

Insert your big and small pictures using Insert->picture->from file
Right click on the big one and select custom animation
Add effect->Entrance->appear
On the drop down list next to the animation select timing->triggers->start
on click of->select small picture from drop down list
Select big picture again
Add effect->Exit->disappear
On the drop down list next to the animation select timing->triggers->start
on click of->select small picture from drop down list
Repeat!

Working with multiple objects can get confusing - read this for a great tip
on 'select multiple objects' button:
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00504.htm
or use tab to move through them.

Post back if you have any problems

Thanks. This is my first time using a discussion group, and I must admit that
your suggestion is very interesting (and clear). Unfortunately, I am using
PowerPoint 2000 SR-1 and this application does not seem to have the needed
triggering capability. Any other suggestions; what about using a macro? I
don't know anything about them, but before I investigate further, do you
think it could work?
