How to assume http://

My son's Dell 8300 requires http:// in front of the www.
for any website that is typed into the address bar. On
every other computer I've used, this is not required.
How can I get rid of that requirement so that he only has
to type www.xxxx.com? I've looked in the internet
options and I can't seem to find anything about this.

Why not simply type xxx and hit Ctrl+Enter?
