How to allow Window 98/95 to access windows 2000 Pro shared folder

Hi,

I have tried to use windows 95/98/ME to access window
2000 pro shared folder in workgroup but it was prompted
incorrect password when I entered the correct password.
Any advise?

I have no problem to use window XP to access Window 2000
shared file.

Why windows 95/98/ME only prompted to enter password and
not like window XP has prompted to enter user name and
password?

Make sure all computers are in the same workgroup and that all useraccounts
exist on all computers (W2K/XP's). Got File- and printersharing loaded? Is
Netbios over TCP/IP enabled (Advanced properties of TCP/IP, tab WINS)?
So you'll have to use a login on the W9x that does exist on the W2K's.

I'm not sure I understand your 95/98 login screen. You should login with a
username that does exist on the W2K.

The W2K machines are looking to authenticate against a user account in there
local sam user acounts while my guess is the XP machines have the guest
account/simple file sharing enabled. See link below for what to do. ---
