How to adjust chart auto'ly as new data is entered?

How can I set up an XY chart so that as I enter new data, the chart
will extend automagically?

Here are the details. Note: I am using Excel 2003.

Initially I set up an XY chart based on X-values in B3:B17 and Y-
values in C3:C17. Then I add a linear trendline. This creates the
chart the way I want it, just wide enough to encompass the range of
values in B3:B17, which are just the ordinals 1-15. As I enter more
data into B18:C18, B19:B19 etc, I can modify the endpoint of the data
range manually, which causes the chart to extend to the right again
just wide enough to encompass the data.

That is the behavior that I want to automate. That is, I want to
enter the data in B18:C18 etc, and the chart (data plot and trendline)
will extend to the right automagically just wide enough to encompass
the data.

How can I make that happen?

I tried plotting the range C3:C72, which is the maximum range, leaving
C8:C72 blank until I fill them in one-by-one over time. The chart is
smart enough not to include the blank data in the data plot. But:

(a) The trendline extends all the way to the right for all 70 X-
values, even if I leave B18:B72 blank, which I don't want to do
anyway; that is, I want B3:B72 to be fully populated with the ordinals
1-70; and

(b) The chart concomitantly extends all the way to the right, causing
the interesting current data points to be scrunched up on the left.
