How to add SATA drive in window 2000

Help,
I am How do I add a SATA drive (maxtor) to a computer
with windows 2000 with SP4 or windows XP
 
I'm looking for the same information I've been looking for
weeks, but no takers on giving out the information, but
I'll keep trying.

Presumably you have a sata controler?
sata drive cable and sata pwr cable?
