how set superscript as default for footntes whenever they occur

How can I set superscript as the consistent default for footnotes whenever
they occur?
 
Make sure that the Footnote Reference character style is still defined as
Default Paragraph Font + Superscript. And then make sure that this style is
applied to all footnote references.
