How often do you have to reboot Windows XP Pro?

Hi,

I need to know how often Windows Xp Pro has to be
rebooted as we make DVR (Digital Video Recorder for
surveillance system) which requires preferably no restart
every week. Someone said that Windows XP needs to be
restarted every week to be stable. Is it true? And if
there is any official statement from MS, let me know
where I can see it. How long can Windows XP operate
without rebooting?

Hello,

Windows XP Professional should be able to run months without a reboot.
There are periodic security updates that require reboots but those can be
managed. However, having to reboot every week in order to maintain
stability suggests poor performing hardware or some installed software that
has a memory leak.

Depending on what other software is installed and running on the
system it should be possible to run Windows XP for several months
without rebooting.

I know there are many users who do run their machines for at least
several weeks between reboots.
