how much would you pay?

just a little teeny bit of research here by me

but if you were to wal into a computer shop, any shop.

how much would you pay for the following, not knowing anything about brands
or anything just the spec of the PC

16x Dual Layer DVD-/+RW
AMD Athlon 64 3400+
512MB DDR400 PC3200 ram
nVidia GeForce FX6600GT 128MB Graphics Card
120GB SATA Hard Drive

no os installed

how much would you pay?

and if i was to tell you the brands etc would it change your price?

also a little more info.

AMD 64 3400+ (skt 754)
Asus k8vse Deluxe Motherboard
Sony DW-D22A DVD Re Writer
Geil 512MB DDR400 PC3200 Memory
120GB Western Digital Caviar SATA HDD
Sparkle GeForce 6600GT 128 MB Graphics Card AGP, DVI, TV Out
Thermaltake 480 watt PSU
Chieftec Dragon Black case

bare in mind your talking about from a shop here, not a self build although
most people here probably could self build i just wanna get some sort of
idea

some people have asked me to build for them, they know absoloutly nout about
computers unlike builds i have done for people previously and i have just
asked for 20 quid to nock it up for them

maybe for these next few builds though i could get a bt more out of them, so
really i wanna know how much should i be charging whilst not totally ripping
people off and still getting a decent amount of profit for my efforts

i have priced all the parts up at about 600 but there might be a few odd
extras here and there, new cooler for processor etc.

so how much would u guys reckon is a fair price for that setup?

without an installation of windows of course

cheers

Just make it easy on yourself and use a standard percentage
markup over your cost, plus labor and (if you offer)
warranty coverage.

Sorry, but smart shoppers don't have the mentality of stupid shoppers.
You are asking in the wrong place.

Add up your costs. Add up the hours you spent putting it together.
Charge a percentage of the costs and x dollars an hour. Add it all
together and there you go.

For example. Let's say your costs were $1000, and it took you 1 hour to
put it together. So for sake of argument 10% of 1000 is 100 plus 40 an
hour is 140. Round it to $1150 to make it look better and there you have
it.

Or you could say it's $1199.00 with an $50.00 instant CASH BACK rebate.

That one always cracks me up.

What would really be funny is if you made them write a check for the
1200 before you have them the 50.
