I don't believe there is a maximum, although practically it isn't smart
to have more than 300-500 without using a third-party font manager.

Win9x, and I believe WinXP, load ALL fonts into memory at startup. So,
I wouldn't have too many fonts. Only those that you commonly use.
Especially if you don't have a lot of Ram.
