I am thinking of purchasing the works student and office edition for the
powerpoint, but have 3 computers..is there a limit on how many it can be

The Office Home and Student version may be installed on three computers. So
it seems to be just right for you.

Be sure you buy Office, not Works. Works doesn't include PowerPoint.
