I currently hace w2000 os and would like to reformat my
entire drive and then install win xp so everything will
run smoother and eliminate all the trash on that hard
drive. How should I go about this?

Boot up with the XP CD, format the HDD and follow the instructions.

It is unbelievably easy!

1. Back up your files on removable media.
2. Buy XP.
3. Insert XP disk and follow the prompts.

Clean installs are the way to go, and they're really quite simple with
Windows XP. The CD itself is bootable and contains all the tools you
need to do a clean install.

Here's an article on the subject:

Greetings --

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
