How long should it take to format a 305 MB partition on a XP Pro s

weilorIt has been 24 hours now and only at 37% formatted. Does this sound
right ... or do I have a problem somewhere?

Problem.

Does your BIOS support HDs and partitions larger than 135 GB?
 
10 minutes or less.

Try putting it on another IDE channel, then re-partition it and start the format
again. If it still takes too long, the drive is probably bad.
