How Long Do Posts Stay Up

Just a genera question about this forum. I was looking for a post that was
sent on the 9th of this month. Went to Find and put in the range dates
04-10-04 and 04-08-04. Only got posts for the 10th. I set the range for
04-11-04 and 04-08-04, I only got information for the 11th and a couple for
the 10th. Do posts get deleted that quick? Mac

Depends on ther server. They stay on here for weeks, months. On gogle for
years. The reason you can't find anything is that the web face interface is
poor at best. Try a real newsreader like outlook express, thunderbird, or
agent.

Well, being that we are still in the 3rd month and not the 4th month, I am
surprised you found any!

Hi

If I am not mistaken, I think that currently the retention time on the
MS news servers (msnews.microsoft.com) is 30 or 31 days.

Hmmm. I don't use Google for posting. But, I do use Google for finding
previously posted messages in this news group. The Google search engine is
FAST. If one knows how to use key words and key phrases, one can usually
find a previously posted answer to a problem in seconds. If I use the
option to only search this news group, and enclose my key phrase in quotes,
it's easier and much faster than using the Outlook Express news reader for
finding something that's been previously posted. Aside from that, Google
keeps years of posts. I remove the news posts from my system on a weekly
basis. Why should I waste hard drive space, when Google already has them
archived? I have a shortcut on my start menu for this news group at Google,
which makes things even faster. You're right about posting from a browser,
Outlook Express is easier. But if I'm looking for something from more than
a week ago, Google is way to go.

You were searching for post in the future, how many were you expecting to
find?
