How is Vista compared to XP

PC's run COMPILED source code. Vista contains millions of lines of source
code to make up the OS. DUH!

Another programming neophyte heard from.

I can write a 10 line program that takes 24 hours to complete. I can
write a 100,000 line program that finishes in minutes.

As in many other areas of life, it's not the size that matters, but what
you do with it!

Could have fooled me. You come off at best as a novice on all topics
relating to computers. After all, you're just a fanboy. Everyone knows
fanboys are totally clueless.

On my 2.8Ghz/2GB with XP Pro and Vista Ultimate (dual boot) XP runs faster.
And Vista is on a SATA drive, XP on an EIDE drive.

I use both, I still like XP better.
Vista has shown me NO REASON to upgrade.

All I see in Vista is proof of the old saying...those who would give up
freedom for security end up with neither.

Excuse me? Any other modern OS outperforms Vista in almost every single
respect, with just a quarter of hardware resources. I have Linux boxes
with 1GHz CPU and 256MB of RAM running a full-fledged KDE way snappier
and more stable than Vista on a 2.8GHz machine with 1GB of RAM.
And add another 256MB of RAM and a good graphics card, and Beryl on the
same Linux box leaves Vista's Aero looking very silly indeed.

"...with just a quarter of the hardware resources." ? Uh, not likely. Maybe
half. Maybe.

Define "...a good graphics card..." I've gotten Aero to work on the lamest
PC's. 512MB RAM and 64MB vid RAM. I have yet to get Beryl to work on any of
my PC's... not enough juice.

<snip>

Geez... it's all about the apps. Ultimately, the OS doesn't matter. If your
favorite app won't run on your favorite OS, then one has a problem.

Or better yet ... you can try, but you can't protect fools from themselves.

You must always give up something for security, whether it be the
inconvenience of carrying a pocket full of keys, or the necessity of dealing
with the advanced security of an OS ... a concept fools can't quite grasp.

It's has more original features than your post does.

Vista is like one of my previous girlfriends: Very pretty, a little
heave on the make-up actually. She was always late because she had all
these things she needed to do before she could even perform the most
basic tasks. She was rock solid mentally and very organized deep down,
but all her obsessive compulsive behavior around getting the simplest
things done made her kinda difficult to be with.
