How have an automatic separator line between email & reply?

Use 2002 Outlook, but have heard that an automatic separator line can be
inserted in Outlook Express. All I've found in 2002 Outlook is that you can
"insert" a horizontal line from the Border menu. Can't find any preference
to make it automatic. Is there such a thing?

In Outlook 2003 and later, yes.
