Is this a good newsgroup to follow if you've never done any serious
programming, or is there a newsgroup for beginners?

What do you mean George ?
I think it is a great great newsgroup for all vb.net developers.

Hi,

in this news group people always try to answer your questions and help you
solve your problems, it doesn't matter if it's a beginner or advanced vb.net
question.

There is no newsgroup for beginners, so you can post here, but take into
account some things:

- If you are learning programming, it's advisable to buy a good book to
learn the basics. Once you know them, you can ask non-obvious things here.
- Many questions and problems have been posted and answered before. Using
the Groups link of Google will find the answers.
- When asking a question, try to do it in a way that other person can
understand and/or reproduce the problem without previous knowledge of your
context. That is, be descriptive (although short), post some code (but not
your whole file, only the relevant lines of code) and above all, post the
error message. Some people say things like "it does not work", or "I get an
error" but they do not mention the error message!

We welcome just about everybody here - /except/ those people
who try to get /us/ to do /their/ homework ... ;-)

Seriously, try things out and, if and when you get stuck, drop us a line.

Phill W.
