How Does One Set the Default Browser in Word 2000?

My default browser is Netscape 7.1. Clicking on an embedded URL in Word 2000, however, launches Netscape 4.7 to display the page. I can't find anywhere in Word to set the default browser, set a path to "helper programs", etc. I wouldn't be surprised if somebody told me I needed IE, but if Word will open one version of Netscape, why not any version?

what's the file extension in URL? Check in the system which application is
associated with that file extension - Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder
Options... > File Types.
