How does one get one's file out of "compatibility mode"?

The help file says to go to the Microsoft Office Button and click "convert".
There is no "convert" comand in the Office Button menu.
Any ideas?

Hmm that's a bit odd. Can you do a save as and save as a powerpoint
presentation? That should save as a pptx.
