how do you unlock and jpg digital photo?

I have photos on my desk top than when I try to delete them or move the trash the pop says it can't be done because the photos are locked. Does anyone know how to unlock them?

It sounds to me that you have accidently encrypted the picture somehow, however I dont have a clue. Maybe someone else can help. It maybe summat to do with its Properties/general/advanced settings. Altho tht is only a guess.

Are the photos "real" photos? i.e can you open them and see that they are real photos?

Try booting up in safe mode and delete them that way (press F8 just before windows loads).

A couple of things you might try.

Right click on the photos, click on properties and as TriplexDread said, make sure the they are not marked as "read only"
Or try highlighting one and saving it under another name.
