I want to display a large number without typing all of the zeros. I now the
math symble but I want it to look like you would write it on paper, without
the symble. I am using Microsoft Word 2003.

You want 10 with a 6 exponent? Type 106. Select the 6 and press
Ctrl+Shift+Equals Sign.
