How do you remove screensavers from Windows XP?

D

Don R.

I have tried to remove the Windows XP standard screensavers
without success. I have administrator rights as I am the
only one who uses my computer. It seems that it has
something to do with the system restore files and having
the restore turned on, but I am not sure. Is there a way
to take the screensavers off the computer permanently?
Thanks in advance for your help.

This is what I have done. I do not know if this will
work for you or is the way to do it. I go
to 'find/search' and search c&d drives for the
s/saver "name". Then I just delete the files that match.
They are in .........
c:/program files as "name"
c:/windows as .ini and .scr

Not without a lot of stuffing about.

Type sfc /purgecache
make sure windows can't find setup files
delete screensavers
Ignore dialogs

They'lll come back if you ever need to attempt a repair. Your system will no longer self repair though Admins will get a dialog to stick the XP CD in.
