I need to create a template that looks nothing like the page layouts that
Powerpoint has. I've searched online and find nothing similar either. I know
how to create my own template but not how to insert extra placeholders into
the powerpoint master. Please help. Thanks, Kelley

Kelley,
Unfortunately you cannot insert new placeholders in the PPT masters.
Best choice is to use multiple masters.

Other than the placeholders PPT already supplies, you can't insert more
placeholders. And for the most part, the existing ones are one-only deals.
You can have them or not have them but you can't have two or more.

I've been looking for information on this same question. Once I posted my
question, I found lots of other people wanted to know the same thing. After
reviewing all these requests to add more placeholders, does Microsoft have
any plans to enable the possibility of adding multiple place holders?

That is only known to Microsoft. However, you can post the suggestion to add
your voice to the "many".

We're just mushrooms here like everybody else. The people you see replying to
questions are all volunteers, whether they have an "MVP" after their names or not.

MS and MS alone knows what the plans for the next version are, and they're not
telling. We'll just have to wait and see.

If you're looking for a reasonably effective substitute for being able to add your
own placeholders, have a look at our ShapeStyles add-in at
http://shapestyles.pptools.com

The free demo gives you the equivalent of five placeholders.
