how do you insert a screentip

Using Word 2003 and need to insert a screentip for a
particular word.
I don't want to hyperlink the word - just have a screen
tip appear when the mouse hovers over the word.

Hi Jenny

There's no obvious way to do this in Word. The best I can suggest is to
select the text involved and use Insert > Bookmark to create a bookmark for
that text. Then select the text again and create a hyperlink (Insert >
Hyperlink) that points to that bookmark. You can then set the tooltip text
for the hyperlink, and anyone who clicks it will go to the bookmark, which
is where the text is (ie, they'll go nowhere).

The disadvantage is that the tooltip will include either "Click to follow
link" or "CTRL + click to follow link", and I know no way of getting rid of
that text.

Alternatively, would a comment work for you? If the user has chosen to
display comments as balloons, the user will see the comment in a balloon.
Otherwise, the user sees the comment as a tooltip, along with the initials
of the person who created the comment, and the number of the comment.

Hope this helps.

You can also apply direct formatting to the hyperlink and followed hyperlink
text to make it appear identical to the surrounding text. Still, like
Shauna, I think you are stuck with the prompt to follow the link.
