How do you get viewable pictures in Outlook 2003 contacts?

In Outlook 2003, I've inserted several pictures in my contacts and they are
not visible. Even the generic picture icon/slot is gone. The ones without
pictures have the icon visible. I can right click on where the picture is
supposed to be and have the option to remove or change the invisible picture.
What can you do to have the pictures visible? When inserted, outlook is
supposed to format the picture(s) to best work in that application, so it
shouldn't be sizing that is the problem! Is there a solution to this problem?

Did you customize the first page of the contact form? That blocks the picture feature.
