How do you get service pack 2 these days?

I would like to get service pack 2. I'm finding that it's not that
easy.
The only way I see to do it is to download the one for multiple
computers,
even though I only want it for one desktop machine.

It says:

Do it. It's a 266meg file, but it will do the job just fine.

Ignore that wording, that is what you want.
It works just as well for one or many computers and it is what you
want if you want to burn SP-2 to CD.
There is no other SP-2 that is complete.

Ignore that warning. The full download of SP2 is the same one or multiple
computers. That warning was put there to limit the number of full downloads
when SP2 was first released, to encourage people to use windows update for
it. When installing SP2 from windows update it downloads only what is
needed for that system, however there can be problems installing it that
way. I recommend using the full download.

Don't install:
Windows Genuine Advantage Notification (KB905474)

Wait for SP3 for any subsequent critical updates. Get it on CD, like SP2 is
available that way from MS. Glean the system of Windows Genuine Advantage
Notification (KB905474) after that.

After I downloaded SP-2 I slipstreamed it with my copy of Win XP so now I
have a backup CD containing Win XP WITH SP-2 included. About 6 months ago I
had to reformat my hard drive and reload XP from scratch. It sure saved a
lot of time by having my restoration CD containing both Win XP and SP-2.
