How do you create a indirect link?

I noticed on some message boards and e-mail txt one can direct the
reader to a link by having him click on the underlined text. I know
you can cut and paste a URL but how do you make the link a different
name? In other words how can you substitute another word for the
direct link?

I'm not sure if what you mention has to do with:
http://snipurl.com/

or
http://tinyurl.com/

Both AFAIK create their own link name.

Otherwise if you use MS Word you can paste a link into it and change the text
to anything you wish.
Copy any URL.
Right click an empty line in Word.
Click Hyperlink in the popup menu.
Click once in the Address input box and press CTRL+V to paste the URL.
At the top of the "Insert Hyperlink" window type in the text you want displayed
for the hyperlink.
Click Ok.
The hyperlink will have the text you typed and go to the URL assigned when
clicked.

Thanks for the help. Yes I think the proper term is I want to create a
hyperlink in in e-mail messages from either Eudora or Outlook
Express.

If I do what you said in MS Word can I cut and paste it to my e-mail
message? I tried and it didn't work.
