how do we audit remote desktop

Cort Fritz

Hi,

I have a partner who is using Remote Desktop extensively
to manage their many computers. They want to be able to
audit the use of Remote Desktop. Any suggestions?

It is possible with Windows 2003 Server, but I am not sure about XP's
Remote Desktop...

From the Security Focus Mailing List:
Win2003 Server *does* indeed log the client IP for terminal
services/remote
desktop. It is logon type 10, and it logs the IP under
"SourceNetworkAddress." Of course, you have to have to enable auditing
of
logons in the event logs....

You can use ObserveIT to audit all remote desktop sessions. You can see more at observeit.com
