How do I widen the scale of a font?

I'm trying to make a flyer using the "Playbill" font. But, that font is very
tall and skinny and hard to read. I want to actually change the scale of the
font and make it wider and less heavy. The Word options are limited to
"bold" or entirely changing the font SIZE, which I don't want to do. I can
manipulate the font in Word Art, but that's labor-intensive and you can't
select all the text - you have to take it block by block. Anyone know how to
manipulate the font of the entire text? Thanks!

Change the scale on the Character Spacing tab of Format | Font.

You might also try Format - Font - Character Spacing tab, and see if
changing the Scale to 150% or 200% provides the look you want.

Mike, thanks so much for the speedy reply and the idea. Based on your
response I may find out there's no way to alter an existing font. I did
search for some free Western fonts and they were not what I wanted. I found
some I liked but those you had to purchase. If anyone knows if it's possible
to alter a font, please let me know. Thanks!

Have you tried the expand feature? Select text, Format | Font | Character
Spacing | Spacing and expand by, say, 2 pt. Does this help?
