How do I wash out a ready made design template?

I am required to use a ready-made design template, but the graphics are too
strong. How can I make them more subdued or transparent so they don't
"fight" the text?

thank you.

Put a white box on top and set the transparency to suit. Do this on the slide
master. Does this help?

Bekha,
You can go to View - Master - Slide master - the graphics will have been
added there. If possible select them and use the drawing toolbar to make
them more subdued.
If you cannot select them because they are in the background, save the file
as a webpage, all the objects of the template and the template master will
be saved in a folder. So will the graphics, you can edit them in any
suitable program and reinsert them in your template.

Thank you, Rae. That is the solution I had already tried, and it works but
not very "workably." When working with the slides in the workspace,
everytime you do something the slide background repeatedly fills and refills
and it's just annoying as can be. So I was wondering if there was some
magical way to actually change and subdue the template itself so that it
becomes more subdued in a permanent sense. Thank you for responding...

This won't be an ideal solution, but try clicking on the image in the
template and then adjusting the Picture toolbar controls (i.e., Brightness
and Contrast). However, the best way to do what you need is going to be
editing the image itself in an image program such as PhotoShop or
PhotoElements.
