How do I view pics without my widescreen computer making them wide

Does anyone know how to change the settings or something that will allow me
to see the digital pictures I take in a standard/regular window, or in a wide
screen but without my computer making them wider when viewing them? It seems
that this is possible, because who wants all their pics to be viewed wider
than the original.

Maybe the wide screen you are referring
to has an option like "Stretch To Fit" that
could be unchecked.

What are you using to view the pictures?
Windows Picture and Fax viewer or something else?
