How do I view my inbox when an email is open?

One of my colleagues is not able to minimize a new email (one that he has
created) to view his inbox, he has to send it before it will go away, however
on my computer, I can minimize one no problem, is there a particular setting
that I have selected/deselected that he needs? Both on outlook 2003, windows
xp.

If he initiated it via a another application than Outlook that he indeed
cannot minimize it.

So from the Outlook interface he chose "New"?

He might want to try it in Outlook Safe Mode. If it works then, it's most
likely caused by an addin.

Start-> Run;
outlook.exe /safe
