how do i view imported contact lists in the lookup for new emails

I am unable to view the other contact lists under the lookup icon, and when
making distribution lists i cannot see them as well. i can only view contacts
in the actual "contact" folder no sub-folders

Right-click each subfolder, choose Properties, select the Outlook Address
Book tab and check the option labeled "Show this folder as an e-mail Address
Book".
