How do I use Format Painter on bullets?

When I use format painter in PPT it changes font size and font text, but not
bullet format -- how do I use format painter to paint the same bullet format
across different slides

What version of PPT? It seems to work nicely here in PPT2003 copying bullet
formatting from one body text placeholder to another.

Bullets and regular text boxes are another story ... they don't behave at all
the way you'd expect them to.
