I attempted to open a PDF file with my new computer. I was prompted to assign
a format to open the document with. I chose Word. The PDf file is unreadable.
I have tried to open othe rPDF files and they are all opening with Word and
are unreadable. I cannot find a way to unselect the use of Word to open PDF
files. Does anyone know how to turn off this option?

I tried this. I get an Open option and an Open in New Window option which
both automatically jump to Microsfot Word when I right click them. I do not
get the option to choose to open with Adobe.

Any other suggestions?

Where are you selecting the PDF file? In an Explorer window?

Yes. I am trying to open the document from a web page. When I first attempted
to open the doc a window popped up asking me what application to use to open
the doc with. I selected Word, by mistake, and cannot find a way to unselect
it.

I was referring to Windows Explorer, not Internet Explorer. Try this with a
PDF file that is stored on your hard drive, in a Windows Explorer window.
