How do I unlock a selection that is locked?

I own Microsoft word 2007 and when I go to type on it or do anything it says
This modification is now allolwed because the selection is locked. I need
help to get it unlocked if anyone knows how to do that please share your
Information.

It appears you may have a trial version of Office 2007 and the trial has now
expired.
