Nortons have a tool that you can download to uninstall their software
check their site

Thanks, I did find it, but now it wants the password, I do know it but it
won't take it.

Good afternoon rick,
This is my first time on this site.
I would like to say that i have had vista home prem and nortons now for
12months and have never had a problem with it since i installed it, also i
have it on 3 xp systems and no probs.
I also think that it was incorect for you to say that symantec products have
not got anything compatible at this time as every product i have used never a
problem.
I say this with all due respect.
Regards

remove HDD - open HDD case - using a pair of scissors or a sharp craft
knife, carefully cut off the portion that has Norton on it. replace case -
replace HDD - switch on, go into BIOS and tweak it a bit.
Good luck.

I agree with Rick although I would add the warning not to replace it with
McAfee.
