You should have uninstalled it, per the readme, prior to upgrading or
installing Vista as nothing from Symantec is compatible at this time. You
can try the removal tool provided by Symantec here, but otherwise you will
need to format and start clean.

This is my first time on this site.
I would like to say that i have had vista home prem and nortons now for
12months and have never had a problem with it since i installed it, also i
have it on 3 xp systems and no probs.
I also think that it was incorect for you to say that symantec products have
not got anything compatible at this time as every product i have used never a
problem.
I say this with all due respect.

remove HDD - open HDD case - using a pair of scissors or a sharp craft
knife, carefully cut off the portion that has Norton on it. replace case -
replace HDD - switch on, go into BIOS and tweak it a bit.
