Sorry if this is the wrong section for this, or if it's appearing twice - I
am in awe of all you brilliant people that have such good answers to all
these questions! Here's the thing - I'm debating whether or not to install
"Microsoft Shared Computer Toolkit" on my Windows XP system. Can somebody
recommend if it's right for me? Here's my problem:
I have a Compaq Presario Windows XP Home Edition system, with a second hard
drive that's 250 GB big. I have it about half filled, with backups of my
music collection and other important files. I'd like to be able to create a
"guest" account so a roomate or whoever can use my computer, get on the
internet, use Word, Excelt, etc....BUT NOT BE ABLE TO SEE MY SECOND HARD
DRIVE. This was easy to do in Windows 2000, but I'm having a hard time
trying to "un-share" my second HD in Windows XP! Also, it'd be great to make
this "guest account" very restricted - i.e. they can't install any programs,
can't make system changes, etc, etc.
So, having read all that, what do you guys think? Is Microsoft Shared
Computer Toolkit right for me? Or is there an easier way to accomplish what
I'm trying to do? Help!
