I wish to turn off the feature which allow the mouse pointer to anticipate my
next move. With this feature on, the mouse automatically snaps to the next
location, it thinks, I want to go to.

This is NOT a mouse NewsGroup, but a Word NewsGroup, but...

1. Click "Start" button
2. Select "Settings" and click "Control Panel".
3. Double-click "Mouse"
4. Click the "Pointers Option" TAB and you should have some sort of
"Automatically move pointer to default button in dialog box" checkbox.
Uncheck it.

Does that help?

Easy Bill. To someone who is not very familiar with Word and
Windows, there would be no way of knowing whether the pointer
behavior was caused by one program or the other. Microsoft's whole
point way back when was to make it a seamless experience.
