I'm using Home edition & would like XP to stop putting shortcuts to
files & things in the recent folder under my usner name in documents &
settings.

Is there a registry hack I can use?

If this isn't possible, when I try and delete these files with some
other program (like a wipe program) the option doesn't show on my right
click menu as it does with regular files.

Thanks.

You can find this information in the Help and Support Center, in the article
entitled "To show your most recently used documents on the Start menu".

Everybody wants a "registry hack".

I didn't say "Start Menu", I said "Recent Folder" in c:\documents and
settings\user\recent\

Well I can't see what you are referring to regaring the "Recent Folder"
in "C;\Docments & Settings". Turning off recent files in Start does not
turn it off in Recnet Folder. I want to turn it off in Recent Folder so
that it doesn't record used files & folders. Yes I can always delet
them but would rather turn it off.

I tried that, but I'm on XP-Home & I don't have the same features as
noted in the article. Thanks anyway.
