How do I turn off Active X settings on Outlook email?

A client of mine asked me:

"is there any way to turn off your Active X settings on your email before
you send to us. It freezes up our computer and we need to shut down an power
up."
 
Well, I would send them plain text messages since plain text formatted
messages can't carry active-x components. For you this might mean changing
your message format via Tools > Options > Message format and/or disabling
Word as your e-mail editor.
