How do I turn disk write caching on?

The Bootvis trace log produces a warning that "Disk write caching is
disabled and the Safely Remove Hardware utility shows my boot drive as a
candidate for removal. I assume from these indicators that write
caching is indeed turned off. Where is disk write caching controlled and
how can I turn it on again.

My motherboard is an Asus M2NPV-VM and the hard drive is a Seagate 80
gig SATA. Windows version is XP Home with SP2 update. Thanks in
advance for any help with this question.

I would ck DMA modes too - set at IDE ATA controllers >
Primary/Secondary Channel

Just my 2¢ worth. Larry

Hi Don,

Open Device Mgr., rt-click on your HD, and select Properties. It is under
the "Policies" tab.

Any advice is my attempt to contribute more than I have received but I can only assure you that it works on my PC. GOOD LUCK.

Thanks Curt, I think I've seen this window before and it's set at
"Optimize for Performance." Wonder why Bootvis and the other utility
"Safewly Remove Hardware" are still showing it as removable.
