How do I transfer my data to a new computer?

Bought a new computer and am trying to transfer my data file to it. Tried the
export function and then tried to copy the backup file to a cd but it is read
only so I can't import it. Isn't there an easier way?

Not sure what version of OL you're using now, nor what you're migrating to.
